What Type Of Benefits Can I Expect For My Child?

Our Little Ninjas program offers our preschool students many benefits. We hope to improve cooperation and socialization skills within a group setting. The structured classes present children with a fun and challenging environment which encourages strong listening and focus skills. After a period of time, students often demonstrate an improved ability to concentrate on a particular activity or subject as a result of this training (this often translates into better academic performance).

We encourage courtesy and respect to others in and out of the school. We see this practice leads to improved behavior and listening skills at home and in school. Martial Arts training also offers many physical benefits: better physical strength, improved balance, and better listening skills just to name a few. In general, we hope that our students experience overall improvements in mental and physical well being, and an increase in self-confidence. Most importantly we hope our preschool students have fun in a positive, yet challenging, learning environment.

What Happens After Your Child 'Outgrows' The Little Ninjas Program?

The Little Ninjas program is derived from our ³children¹s taekwondo² program. The taekwondo program is for older children, teens, and adults. The benefits and expectations for the Ninjas are the same as with our other programs; however, we have tailored the curriculum to be more achievable for a child of 3, 4, or 5 years of age. The classes are meant to act as a preparatory program for our taekwondo classes. Students can graduate from the program several ways: students can graduate by achieving the highest Little Ninjas Belt, often children are promoted by instructor recommendation, lastly, students who turn 5 years of age typically advance to The Lil¹ Dragons classes. Please keep in mind that, due to their unique abilities and challenges, no two children progress at the same pace. We encourage patience in our students and parents.

How Is The Little Ninjas Program Different From The Taekwondo Program?

As you know there are big differences between children ages 3 thru 5 and those who are slightly older. Preschool children often lack the concentration skills of older children and typically lack the same motor skills of a child several years older. Although each child is unique, the Little Ninjas program is honed to meet the needs of the preschool children. One way we do this is by shortening the class length.

A typical taekwondo class is 50 minutes long, while a Ninjas class is 30 minutes. Shorter class lengths make it easier for preschool children to concentrate throughout an entire class. Secondly, we limit the class size affording more individual attention from the instructors for your child. Lastly, the curriculum is broken up into ³more achievable² blocks for the preschool children. Our Little Ninjas curriculum is arranged into eight skill sets: Focus, Team Work, Control, Balance, Memory, Discipline, Fitness, Coordination.

You can find more regarding the specific elements of the curriculum in this packet. Each student will have particular skills to learn in each of the aforementioned categories. Children will then 'test' periodically on these skills. As with taekwondo, students earn belts as they test. The belt progression for the Little Ninjas program is moderately different than that of our taekwondo program (different color belts and so on). If you have any questions on any element of the Little Ninjas Program, please do not hesitate to ask.
