After your warmup period, you will increase the speed of the treadmill to a full sprint. Continue sprinting for 30 to 45 seconds, and then reduce the treadmill’s speed to a brisk walking or jogging pace. After you have rested for one minute, increase the speed of the treadmill to your sprinting pace.

You can repeat this process multiple times for up to 20 minutes, and will find that you were able to receive the same workout that you would have if you jogged for up to an hour. This exercise is great for long-distance runners who would instead like to focus on developing their explosive, fast twitch muscle fibers.
